STYLE

HUNTER

Forget the catwalk, the shop windows and the

fashion bloggers. Sometimes, the best place for

style inspiration is out on the streets. Our style

hunter roams Hong Kong, camera-in-hand, ready

to snap expats who exude individuality. This

month, personal stylist

Ellen Lobler

shares her

alternative wedding fashion tips – boho style.

Ellen is a Dutch stylist and personal

shopper in Hong Kong, and writes about

the latest trends for

Bohemian-style weddings are having a huge moment, and they

require a totally different dress code than traditional ceremonies.

Don’t get caught out when an invitation falls on your doormat.

Here are some tips to look the part:

• The good news is that your feet aren’t going to hurt for hours

due to dancing at these weddings. Go barefoot, or wear pretty

flip-flops or sandals – not your usual Havaianas! If you prefer

to wear heels, opt for a wedge to prevent your heels from

sinking into the sand or grass.

• Style-wise, I’d recommend a crochet or lace floaty number,

and pile on the accessories. Boho-style bangles, earrings

and necklaces are plentiful in stores right now – check out

Accessorize, H&M and

Netaporter.com

for inspiration.

• Tousled hair or a floral or braided headband will instantly

put you on trend. Keep makeup to a minimum, and focus on

bronzing skin and a slick of lip-gloss. Shimmering body oil

from Nuxe gives the perfect glow – and don’t forget: a good

manicure and pedicure will be essential.
