ome people start furnishing their homes from the ground
up – that is, they buy the carpets first and then buy the sofa
or the artwork to match. Others buy everything together at

However you do it, an antique carpet is probably one of the most
versatile items you’ll ever buy, and it’s easy to move to another
country if you relocate. They’re also said to increase in value over
time – in recent years, the prices have been really good, so maybe

These Gabbeh carpets from the southwest of Iran, and available

modern. With strong graphic designs and rich earth tones they will
tune in with contemporary, antique or retro themed rooms. They’re
also woven from 100 percent handspun wool so are easy to clean and
hardwearing, not to mention deliciously thick and soft underfoot. The
yarn is coloured using natural plant dyes, which makes the carpets
